Mobile Collector ("the App") is an internal field-operations tool developed by Upsilon ("we", "us", "our") for use by authorized collection agents of our utility/subscription billing clients. It is not available to the general public and is provisioned only to employees or contractors of the operating company. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
a) Device Provisioning Credentials
When the App is set up on a device, an administrator provisions it with a
device identifier, an API key, and the address of the company's backend
server (typically via a QR code scanned with the device camera). These
credentials are stored securely on the device using the operating
system's encrypted secure storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain) and
are used solely to authenticate the device with our backend server.
b) Subscriber and Billing Data
To perform their job, collectors need access to subscriber records
assigned to them, including: name, phone number, service zone, account
balance, invoice details, and payment history. This data originates from
and is synced with our backend server and is cached locally on the
device (in an on-device SQLite database) so the App can be used offline.
This data belongs to the operating utility/billing company and is not
personal data about the App user (the collector) themselves.
c) Payments Recorded by the Collector
Payment records entered by the collector (amount, method, date, linked
invoice, and an optional note) are stored locally and synced to our
backend server as part of the App's core function.
d) Camera
The App requests camera access solely to scan QR codes used for device
provisioning. No photos or video are captured, stored, or transmitted.
e) Bluetooth
The App requests Bluetooth access to discover, connect to, and print
receipts/invoices on a portable Bluetooth receipt printer. Data sent over
Bluetooth is limited to receipt/invoice text sent to the paired printer
and is not transmitted to any third party.
f) Location
On some Android versions, Bluetooth device scanning requires the device
to grant location permission at the operating-system level. The App does
not use this permission to determine, track, store, or transmit the
user's geographic location, and no location data is collected.
g) Microphone
The underlying camera library used by the App may request microphone
permission as part of its standard permission set. The App does not
record audio and does not use the microphone for any purpose.
Information collected by the App is used exclusively to:
We do not use collected data for advertising, and the App contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
We do not sell, rent, or share subscriber, payment, or device data with third parties. Data collected by the App is transmitted only between the device and our own backend server over the network, and is used only by the operating utility/billing company for its own business operations.
Locally cached data remains on the device until the App is uninstalled or its data is cleared, or until an administrator revokes the device's provisioning credentials. Subscriber and payment data on our backend server is retained in accordance with the operating company's own record-keeping and legal requirements. To request removal of data associated with a specific device, contact us using the details below.
The App is a business tool intended for use by adult employees and contractors of the operating company. It is not directed at, and is not knowingly used by, children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App or applicable legal requirements. The "Last updated" date above indicates when this policy was last revised.
